According to recent survey's 71% of Canadians regularly take vitamins and minerals, herbal products, normand_health_canada_GMPhemopathic medicines and the like.  Health Canada clasifies these products as natural health products. Regulation concerning Natural Health products first came in to effect in 2004. With the latest GMP guidance document revised in August of 2006.  This live and interactive BenAstrum web training course will serve as an optimal introduction and review of Part 3 (Good Manufacturing Practices) of the Canadian Regulations for Natural Health Products (NHP).  After a brief overview of the historical context and legal status of the Natural Health Products Regulations in Canada, we will review the various sections of the GMP requirements for these regulations.

Instructor Biography:

With over 30 years of extensive managerial background in Quality Management, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Good Manufacturing Practices, Regulatory Compliance and Biosafety, Normand Robichaud has sat on both sides of the fence. After gaining some industry experience, Normand served as an Inspector and Quality Assurance & GMP Evaluator at the Bureau of Pharmaceutical Surveillance, in addition to the Radiation Protection Bureau & Office of Biosafety.  All told, his career at Health Canada spanned a period of close to 10 years. Normand has also worked for such organizations as Canadian Blood Services, Biochem Pharma (Vaccines Division) and Aeterna Laboratories, where his titles included Senior Director, Compliance and Director of Quality.

Some of his many accomplishments include the conducting of several GMP audits and inspections, namely as a Health Canada inspector, in the United States, Canada, Europe and South America, as well as expanding and completely overhauling a dysfunctional Quality Control Department into an integrated department that successfully passed an FDA pre-approval inspection.
